1) Rohit Sharma can fluently converse in four languages- English, Hindi, Marathi and Telugu. His maternal place is Vishakapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
2) Like many cricketers, Rohit Sharma did not want to become a batsman. He began his career as an Off-Spinner. But his coach Dinesh Lad (father of Mumbai batsman Sidhesh Lad) noticed Rohit’s potential with the bat and transformed him into a batsman.
3) Rohit Sharma, in his school days bunked his school to meet his idol Virender Sehwag.
4) Rohit Sharma’s parents could not afford to pay his school fees. So, he was given a scholarship in his school just because of his cricketing ability.
5) Despite being a vegetarian, Rohit Sharma is very fond of eggs, but consumes them only outside his home; respecting their tradition. Once Rohit Sharma challenged his friend to eat 50 eggs without a break.
6) Rohit Sharma was the first Indian to score a hundred in T20s when he scored one for Mumbai against Gujarat in the 2006-07 edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 competition. He scored 101* off 45 balls with 13 fours and five sixes.
